We will be joining the bus ride to the Adelanto Detention Center as public witnesses for immigrant dignity and community solidarity. “Caravan and Serenade” draws on the tradition of serenading loved ones with music. Musicians and speakers will gather outside the detention center to send love, hope, and encouragement to those detained beyond the walls. While this is not a protest, you are encouraged to bring signs to express in keeping with the spirit of the serenata and to show your support of the detainees and their families, such as Human Beings are Not Illegal; Solo El Pueblo Salva El Pueblo!
We will not be able to donate supplies to detainees nor allowed into the Center. We are welcome to bring gift cards for families we see coming out from their visits.
There will be a bathroom on the bus and we will have a support vehicle if needed. Please bring food and water; there may be food trucks but just in case.
Donations are not required but encouraged. Each bus costs approximately $2,000. Even a $20 contribution helps offset expenses.
