Welcome to SGFI
Who we are
A grassroots collective of San Gabriel Valley residents, including those from Sunland-Tujunga, La Cañada, La Crescenta, Pasadena, Sierra Madre, and Monrovia, united in strong opposition to anti-democratic policies and oligarchy. Our group is a chartered member of the Indivisible alliance, and part of a movement of thousands of local Indivisible groups nationwide with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda.
Our values reflect core progressive principles, including empathy, diversity, non-violence, and resiliency, and we welcome you to join us in the fight to take our country back.
How We Are Effective
We gather regularly with like-minded people, our affinity group, meeting monthly as a whole and regularly within several Action Committees. Our core issues include:
- Pressuring MOCs (Members of Congress) to more aggressively defend democracy and become a viable opposition party
- Supporting the obstruction and delay of destructive right-wing policy implementation
- Resisting – and obstructing – fascism
- Monitoring federal government activity and staying informed of fascist creep/consolidation of power
- Promoting election security and voter education
- Growing and nurturing leadership and creating new Indivisible groups
We will never give up hope or give up our power. SGF Indivisible is comprised of a strong and experienced leadership team with decades of activism, community engagement, and non-profit management. We empower individuals looking to contribute their skills and passion for democratic principles to join our chapter or consider starting their own Indivisible group.
This is how we build and wield power in ways we as individuals cannot. To create change, we need the power that comes with working together.
Organizational Structure:
- Co-Leaders forming a Leadership Team, Membership base, and six Action Committees including Protest Organizing, Recruitment and Outreach, Research, Voter Outreach, Media Outreach and Communications, and Members of Congress (MOCs) Actions.
- Monthly meetings lasting 1.5 hours to discuss key current events, host occasional guest speakers, receive Action Committee Updates, announce upcoming local and national actions, engage in small groups, and invite Q&A participation.
